Introducing my PRS

My PRS Modern Eagle (ME Quatro)View of sunburst maple topI got this Paul Reed Smith guitar completely on a whim, simply because it looks awesome. The guitar body and neck are made of mahogany. The body has a quilted maple top, slightly red sun-burst with natural clear finish. The neck has rosewood finger board with the traditional PRS mother of pearl ‘bird’ inlays.Bird InlaysThe headstock has an eagle instead of PRS signature. The Eagle has landedThe hardware (grover tuners, tunomatic bridge and tremelo) is all gold plated, including the PRS humbucker pickups. The electronics are simple, a three-way toggle selects neck, neck+bridge, or bridge pickups, a single 500K audio taper POT controls overall volume, while a single 500K limear POT and .022uF capacitor are wired in for tone control. The pickups have very clean output and remind me of PAF tone. The neck pickup is full bodied, while the bridge has more treble with a very slight ‘quacky’ tone.

The guitar had the shaft broken off the toggle switch, but it was easily replaced (also this added considerable discount to the price).Broken Switch came with a good discountIt was during that replacement that I got into the electronics ‘tub’ to have a look around. I’m looking forward to a future upgrade with either Seymour Duncan Alternative 8’s, GFS Crunchy Rails, or Dimarzio D Activator pickups. But until then, this guitar is just really great to look at.
